fine music radio bursary tuition fee 2024-2025?

As Africa’s only Classical and Jazz FM radio station, Fine Music Radio is mindful that it is a privilege and responsibility to share the world’s most beautiful music: classical and jazz. Fine Music Radio is the only radio station in South Africa that broadcasts from a cultural centre, the Artscape Theatre Complex on the Foreshore in Cape Town. In short, FMR is peerless.

FMR is committed to delivering the best possible listening experience to the classical and jazz music loving audience. Outside broadcasts, compelling content, and social initiatives allow us to meet our unique responsibilities as a community station.

Our classical music selection is melodic and non-raucous, appealing to a wide audience, without compromising on integrity. FMR’s jazz content mixes the finest mainstream smooth, the familiar big band classics, and edgy contemporary sounds.

Our name says it all: Fine Music Radio

Our programming is accessible and entertaining for everyone. We are the calm, the soothing, the melodic and the uplifting, beautiful and joyous notes in chaos. FMR maintains a ratio of 90% music to 10% talk.

FMR is the only station to record and broadcast the CPO symphony concerts from the Cape Town City Hall. At the same time, we produce monthly jazz concerts at Guga S’Thebe in Langa, which we also record for later broadcast.

As a community radio station we are in a wonderful position to offer performing and creative artists a platform to expose their work. Our mid-day slot from 12 noon to 1 pm is dedicated to just this: From our book shows, Book Choice / Boekkeuse, to Cape Diary / Kaapse Dagboek, we profile writers, performers, shows and related art events. Our morning Calendar insert also provides an opportunity for our arts’ community to be heard.

Our very popular Classic Business show is presented by Michael Avery, Monday to Thursday from 18h00 – 19h00.

We are committed to promoting our musical stars of tomorrow with our dedicated podcast channel for Youth Music Concerts. We continue to host and broadcast the annual FMR Bursary Trust Awards, championing our music students with bursaries totaling R120 000.

Whether you hear us on FM, stream our website, listen to our FMR cellphone app, or select DStv Audio Channel 838 – you can always delight in the world’s most beautiful music.
